
Auqib Nabi, the top pace bowling all-rounder from Jammu and Kashmir, has been selected as a net bowler for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, According to a recent report by Greater Kashmir.
Auqib, who is an essential part of all formats and one of the top all-rounders in Jammu and Kashmir, is among the eight J&K players who will be serving as net bowlers during the IPL 2023.
As per the report, Tahir Bhat, another bowler from J&K, has already joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad as a net bowler. With Auqib joining the team on Friday, he will become the second bowler from J&K in the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp as a net bowler. The Sunrisers Hyderabad camp is currently being held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.
According to the report, Abdul Samad, Umran Malik, and Vivrant Sharma are already a part of the playing squad for Sunrisers Hyderabad, making the total count of J&K players in the team five. Both Umran Malik and Vivrant Sharma had previously served as net bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad before being picked for the main team.
The report highlights that Auqib and Tahir can hope to impress the franchise’s think-tank and become the next J&K players at the cash-rich IPL.
Among other players from J&K, Abid Mushtaq is with CSK, Mujtaba Yousif is with CSK, Basit Bashir is with MI, Waseem Bashir is with LSG, Umar Nazir is with PBKS, and Samiullah Dar is with KKR.
The report also mentions that ever since the emergence of Umran Malik, IPL teams have been looking at J&K as the pace bowling hub. This season, Avinash from Jammu, who has never played for J&K, was picked up by RCB in the auction. The Jammu-born pacer is said to bowl in high 140k’s.
All net bowlers, except one, are pacers with a clear focus from the teams on fast bowling, according to the report by GK.
